We'll be weeding and pruning and keeping things looking great. We have the work gloves, tools, and compost bags - you just need to bring yourselves and some water. Come find us on the Tompkins Stairs, between Nevada & Putnam Streets above the Alemany Farmers’ Market. The garden is looking FANTASTIC and we appreciate everyone's efforts to keep it that way!

Work Day on March 2nd at 9am

Join your neighbors on Saturday March 2 from 9:00 a.m. to noon for a community work day at the new Tompkins Stairway Garden.

We meet the first Saturday of every month to weed and pick up trash.  Come do your part to help maintain Bernal's newest green space!

The new garden is doing great, but so are the weeds!  We're not using any herbicides, so we need all hands on deck to help pull up the weeds and protect our new plants.

We'll have extra gardening gloves and compost bags - all we need is YOU!

Thanks in advance and see you soon,

The Tompkins Stairs Beautification Group

Monthly Planning Meeting

Hi All,

Just a friendly reminder that we have our monthly meeting of the Tompkins Stairs group next Tuesday, November 7th, at 7 pm.  To find out where the meeting location is please email info@tompkinsstairs.org

Our main topic will be fundraising, so bring any and all ideas and suggestions.  Our goal is to raise enough to supplement the grant we got so we can move forward with the tile installation.

See you then,

Vicky

Envisioning the Tompkins Staircase - A Call for Community Input and Moderated by DPW

  • Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

The intention of this meeting is to sit down with DPW and sketch out a community driven vision for the stairs. It's really im

Tentatively our priorities for the stairs are:

  1. a safe and secure space
  2. a pretty, green place we can be proud of

We are interested in exploring whether there is a connection to the Farmer's Market that can be developed (mosaics related to the market, maybe a pollination garden, possibly a single-plot community garden of some type).  We are also interested in exploring whether there is any kind of child-oriented play structure that could be included without conflicting with our desire to ensure safety first and foremost (which means discouraging loitering)
